Server issues

At 7:00 PM Eastern Branzone, our server provider, reported problems with Chicago network. They are working on the problem and should have an update soon. We appologize for the interuption.

Here is the update from Branzone:

"The Chicago network is now back online, I want to take a moment to go into further details about what has been happening. The network that we utilize in Chicago is not maintained by Branzone. We simply pay for an allocated amount of bandwidth from a colocation provider, therefore we have no control over the network itself."

"Yesterday another customer using the same network had a DDoS attack aimed at their machines. The attack was mitigated quickly and things went back to normal. This morning the same customer experienced another attack but it was much larger. The attack this morning brought the network down completely for several minutes at a time. A 3rd attack began at 5:40PM CST, this attack was significantly bigger than any of the previous attacks. Different from the previous two attacks this attack was aimed directly at the core network equipment causing the equipment to become overloaded. The mitigation took longer due to the size of this attack. There is still risk for some short blips and/or packet loss as the load on the core switches is still quite high because of the high amount of filtering and rate limiting, etc."
