Default Web Site Updates

Now that I know enough to make me dangerous, I've been busy updating our website. The FAQ, Know Your Enemy, Privacy Statement, etc. pages have all been or will be updated in the next few days.

I'll ask some of my web development buddies, see if they can put together something special just for us.

That site was awful. We look like high society compared to that.

Well said.

I think that was one of the worst websites I've ever seen. If you do renovate the dex site, please don't make it as terrible as that.

Big_fork back from the grave. I will be glad to help out with anything. Sorry I have been absent for a while, but I have been busy with finishing up school and starting my new job. I plan to make my come back soon. I might be a little rusty though.

As far as web sites go, I am a very good with php, JavaScript, AJAX, jsp, servlets, MySQL, Oracle etc. I do not know much about asp so stick with RC on that. I managed the website for my honor fraternity at Purdue as well as the local AITP chapter. I am a back end man though (awaiting brutal comments for that one). I can do anything you want with css and positioning, but I am not good at picking out pictures and color schemes etc. I do have the common sense to not create a page with dynamic background images on every page.

My honor fraternity site kept track of points that brothers needed to accumulate over the semester, and it served as an event scheduler for chairs and officers. For regular brothers it was a trimmed down Facebook complete with profile pic and the Wall (called the Chalkboard to avoid any legal issues). I also set up a newsletter with a cronjob and a php page.

The AITP site was mostly a sign up for a computer job fair. I wrote the registration system for companies coming to participate.

Not sure how the back end code on dexworld looks, but I highly recommend a templating agent called Smarty available here http://www.smarty.net/. This makes php a little more object oriented and creates a model-view-controller setup. Basically it separates the php and html into two separate pages and puts them together as a template. This way people that know how to use html, can edit the html without breaking the php code. If you ever need my help shoot me a PM, and I will give you some more reliable contact information.
